Lincoln A played the second game of the season away at Scunthorpe today. They were expecting a hard game as last year the game went down to the last wood bowled to give Lincoln the aggregate by just 1 shot. At 5 ends Lincoln led by 12 shots. The lead at 10 ends had grown to 20 and despite a loss of 5 shots to lead by 15 shots at 15 ends. A strong finish saw a final win by 26 shots. Next game is Boston A at home. Match Result Scunthorpe 93 Shots (4 Points) Lincoln A 119 Shots (14 Points) Roy Horne, Jim Collett, David Hipworth & Trevor Hallam Won 27 – 15. Trailing by 3 shots at 5 ends Trevor’s rink won the next 5 ends scoring 14 shots to lead by 16 – 5 at 10 ends. The rest of the game was shared and the final score 27 – 15.
Brian Jackman, Paul Morris, Mike Smith & George Draper Won 37 – 12. George Draper found the pace of the Green straight away on the first end with his last bowl a back toucher to overturn a 2 count for Scunthorpe. The score at 10 ends was 9 – 9 but after that Georges rink then won all the remaining ends except for 2 picking up 28 shots to give a final score of 37 – 12. Mason Andrews, Terry Walker, Dick Nicholson & Steve Derby Won 22 – 15. Steve’s rink started well to lead by 8 – 5 at 5 ends and by 10 – 5 at 10 ends. The next 5 ends were all won by Scunthorpe and they led 14 – 10 at 15 ends. The last 5 ends went to Lincoln and a final score of 22 – 15. Geoff Maslin, Gerry Tyson, Nick Martin & Michael Thompson Lost 20 – 25 Michaels rink were 1 shot down at 5 ends but led by 1 shot at 10 ends. At 15 ends they were 5 shots down which proved to be the difference at the end. Neil East, Brian Day, Alistair Weir & John Withers Lost 13 – 26. John’s rink got a flying start to lead by 11 – 0 at 5 ends. Then the wheels came off and they only added 2 more shots to lose 13 – 26
