LADIES NEWSLETTER               from The Ladies Section

The national team competitions have had mixed results. The Vivienne team
unfortunately lost to an in-form Ipswich side in the 1/4 final played at St Neots on 6th of February. The Yetton team however have won through to the semi/finals which are to played at Northampton IBC on Saturday March 16th. when they face Norfolk IBC. Good luck ladies.

The Trudy Bates county league squad still have two more games to play, one away at Scunthorpe on Thursday 20th of February and one at home against Louth on the 14th of March. They need to gain as many points as possible from these games in order to make the final.

The ladies club competitions are under way, keep an eye on the board for the play by rounds. The social triples are to be played on Tuesday 25th of February at 12.30 if you have missed the deadline for entry you can still give your name to our competition secretary Sue Johnston, who will be happy to put you on the reserve list.

The ladies fours and triples league entry forms will be out in the near future, so don’t forget to enter your team. Sheila Plaskitt is the ladies league secretary and will help you find players or to join a team.

Two ladies, Michele Scott and Joy Mansell, have just received their certificate for coaching in respect of Supporting Inclusion and Disability in Bowls. The two ladies along with Betty Clark have also been part of the disability coaching team that have won the runner up place in the Fisher Love Brown award for their work with the disabled. The team are to be presented with their award on the 23rd March. Well done to the team.

The committee would like to gauge the support of the lady members for entering two teams in the Mason Trophy next season. A sheet has been placed on the ladies notice board for you to register your interest.

We hope the new ladies are beginning to find their feet within the club. A new members' pairs league has started recently. If you need more information, Paul Davis who heads Linkup is the chap to speak to. There are also friendly matches at the weekend, run by the ever busy Sue Johnston.

The ladies annual presentation dinner has been booked for Friday April 24th in the dining room. A notice will be displayed nearer the time for you to put your name down.

The ladies AGM is on WEDNESDAY APRIL 1st AT 12.30 IN THE BOARD ROOM. Both of these events are open to all lady members, please feel free to come and participate.
