IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT               from Danny Brown

At their recent meeting in late July, the Board of Club Directors took stock of all of the recent expenditure to upgrade the club facilities.

Over the last two or three years we have seen many costly refurbishments for the benefit of all our club members including:

* LED Lighting above the bowling surface
* Ladies and gents toilet refurbishments
* A much needed car park extension
* Upgraded Air Conditioning equipment

These projects alone have cost the Company well in excess of £180,000 and despite many generous donations from members, we are still paying off a substantial loan which enabled us to achieve the car park extension project. All of these are in addition to an annual maintenance bill which runs into thousands of pounds to keep the club looking fresh and to repair anything that may breakdown during the course of the year.

The bowling surface itself is now starting to look a little tired - this is not surprising as it has given us over 20 years service to date - well beyond it's guaranteed life expectancy!

Our maintenance supplier Dales Sports Surfaces has advised us that the underlay is showing signs of wear and the Board recognise that they need to plan ahead to replace the surface and underlay. This has now been earmarked for Summer of 2019 and will be our next major project.

On the back of all of the spend highlighted above, the Board has decided to meet the cost by raising the club green fee to £1.50 per hour (£3.00 per 2 hour session) from 1st September 2017.

Many members have commented that by rounding up the match fee to £3 we would actually assist captains paying at the bar with lots of change whilst at the same time raising much needed funds which can be set aside for the renewal of our bowling green surface.

There continues to be much speculation about the colour of the new bowling surface - will it be traditional green or will it be a more modern blue?

That decision has not yet been taken but watch this space!
