WINTER SINGLES LEAGUE UPDATE 1               from Steve Traynor

First games in the league are on Thursday 14th September at 8.30 pm. The fixtures can be found on the website and also on the notice board as you enter the club. I have 31 of the 36 players on a email list and have sent fixtures and contact details directly to them. A couple of changes have been made to the rules so please take time to check the up to date rules:

Rules

Set singles format 2 sets of 6 ends with a 3 end tie break if required.

1 point per set (1/2 point if set is drawn). Match win – 3 additional points.

Each player to play each member of the same league over a 2 month period. Period 1 Sep/Oct - Period 2 Nov/Dec - Period 3 Jan/Feb - Period 4 Mar/Apr.

Jack to be placed on re-spot if necessary.

Stickers as per Aussie Pairs games. Away player to remove stickers if required by the marker.

Players are not to visit the head until 3rd bowl played.

Top 2 players will move to the next higher league and the bottom 2 players will move to the next lower league at the start of the next period.

A cash prize will be awarded to the winner and runner up of each league after each of the 4 period.
Each player is required to pay £11 on the first game of each period for rink fees (£2.20 x 5 games). Excess contributes to cash prizes

Rearranging games

As expected a number of players have holidays booked in September and October and have asked if it is possible to rearrange games. Originally it was decided that games could not be rearranged after the fixtures are published at the start of each period. We have now decided that players will be able to rearrange games in the September/October period. Players who are unable to play are responsible for contacting their opponent/opponents to agree a convenient date and book a rink with the club – all games for period 1 are required to be played by 26 October. If an alternative date cannot be agreed with opponents then a loss will be recorded.

Markers

If games are rearranged then this may result in an issue with markers. If no marker is available every effort must be made to find one on the night, if no marker can be found then the winner of the toss sets the first jack and the winner of each end sets the jack manually (i.e play with 2 jacks).

Reserves

We have a number of players on a reserve list so if you wish to withdraw from the league then please let me know as soon as possible in order to arrange a replacement.

Any questions give me a call or drop me an email.

Steve Traynor
