National Team Competition Results 12/11               from Dennis Skayman

National Competitions Update

Tuesday 7th November
Lincoln over 60’s men’s double rink made it safely through to round 2 with an 11 shot victory against Horncastle.
Final score 44 shots to 33.
Hoping Gordon Wood will post further report on this one.
Next a 3rd round tie on Tuesday 28th November against Louth

Sunday 12th November
Lincoln made it through to round 3 in the Egham Trophy after a shaky start against Horncastle.
After 5 ends the aggregate score was 11-20 in Horn castle’s favour. Mainly due to Paul Bark scoring 11 shots on his own rink with no reply from the Lincoln four skipped by Danny Brown. With Tony Gilroy’s rink 1-4 down and Kevin Rands four locked at 4-4 at home George Draper was keeping Lincoln close leading 7-1 away from home.
(TG 1-4, KR 4-4, GD 7-1, DB 0-11)
After 10 ends and a 2 minute silence for remembrance Sunday served by all in the club Lincoln went in front by 4 shots (34-30) mainly due to Kevin Rand’s rink scoring 10 shots without reply from his opposition. Tony pulled within 1 shot; George extended his lead to 9 shots, But Danny Browns rink were still struggling going further behind.
(TG 5-6, KR 13-4, GD 13-4, DB 3-16)
After 15 ends the panic in the supporters camp was eased Danny’s rink finally getting the score board moving to go within 8 shots of the opposition. Also with Tony going into the lead by 5 shots and George and Kevin keeping the shot difference the same Lincoln had moved into an 11 shot lead.
(TG 13-8, KR 16-10, GD 17-9, DB 13-21)
At 18 ends the score board read Lincoln 72 Horncastle 52 without a major turn around Lincoln through to the next round?
(TG 22-8, KR 16-13, GD 20-9, DB 15-25)
With Tony and George scoring on the last 3 ends with no reply and Kevin and Danny holding the fight back the answer to the 18 end question was yes an 84 shot to 58 victory.
Safely through to the 3rd round by 26 shots were Spalding await on Sunday 26th November.
