National Finals at Newark 2018
A very successful week for Lincolnshire in the National Finals at Newark this week. They won 3 National Titles and took the Victor Ludorum for the most successful County. Congratulations to Ryan Jackson. Danny Brown &Billy Jackson. National Rinks Champions. Also, to Sam Ashton National Under 25’s Champion and the County Team who won the Derbyshire Trophy this afternoon. Congratulations also to Paul Flatters runner up in the Senior Singles.Click on link at bottom of the page for photos. Hi In the Derbyshire Trophy Lincolnshire were fast out of the blocks and led 28 shots to 7 at 5 ends. This was increases to 31 shots at 10 ends. The next 5 ends were even and the lead was now 30 shots. At 20 ends it had gone down to 26, but a final push on all rinks saw the final score of 101 shots to 68. This win gives Lincolnshire the National Titles in both codes. Match Result; Lincolnshire 101 Shots Durham 68 Shots. Lincolnshire Scores Sam Ashton. Michael Thompson and George Draper Won 37 - 14 Ryan Jackson, Richard Ashton and Billy Jackson Won 35 – 15 Ian Clark, Adrian Field and Trevor Bannister Won 19 – 16 Dennis Skayman, Paul Flatters and Chris Gill Lost 14 - 23 Ryan Jackson, Richard Ashton and Billy Jackson made as steady start to lead 5-4 after 5 ends. By winning 4 of the next 5 ends saw the lead stretch tom 11 shots. Despite only winning 1 of the next 5 ends the lead stayed at 11. This was maintained over the next 5 ends and with Durham chasing shots was increase to 2 shots after 24ends. Final score 35 – 15. Sam Ashton. Michael Thompson and George Draper won the first 5 ends to open up a 14 shot lead at 5 ends. The next 10 ends were shared with the lead still 13 at 15 ends. Durham having gone to plan C were making a game of it now and at 2 ends the lead was 16. Winning 4 of the last 5 saw the final difference grow to 23 shots. Final Score 37 – 14. Ian Clark, Adrian Field and Trevor Bannister started well and led by 5 Shots at 5 ends and by 6 shots at 10 ends. At 15 ends the lead had grown to 9. Durham then began to fight back winning the next 7 ends .and going in front on the 22 end by 1 shot. The final 2 ends went to Trevor to win by 3. Final Score 19 – 16. Dennis Skayman, Paul Flatters and Chris Gill were I a close game all the way through. After 5 ends they led by 1 and by 2 at 10 ends. Durham led by 3 at 15 ends and by 2 at 20 ends. They picked up a 5 on the 21 end to extend their lead to 9. Final score 14 – 23.
