Wednesday 18th Apri 2018 Lincoln IBC Over 60's at home to SLEAFORD IBC               from Gordon Wood

Wednesday 18th Apri 2018
Lincoln IBC at home to SLEAFORD IBC for Lincolns last game of the 2017 - 2018 in the over 60's league.

Having won the league some time ago this game had no bearing on the league positions of either team. Pride was the only thing at stake today.

Rink 4
Roy Horne, Jim Collett, David Jones and Trevor Hallam WON 42 - 13 aganist
R Barnes, M Brett, L Davies and T Stanley.
The home side set off at a fast pace and left the Sleaford rink shell shocked as they led from start to finish, increasing their lead at each 5th end score eventually winning by 29 shots.

Rink 5
Brian Day, Glyn Smallcombe, Gordon Wood and John Withers WON 38 - 8 against
P Annison, K Laker, R Garnham and R Pointon
Unlike rink 4 we decided not to rush into anything and it was no surprise when we reached the 5th end 1 - 6 done. was there to be a shock in store. After a mid rink con-flab and after losing the first 4 ends we thoroughly dominated the rest of the game only losing one more end to finish with a plus 26 shot lead, losing only 5 ends in the game.

Rink 6
Gordon Dobson, Brian Jackman, Dick Nicholson and Steve Derby WON 25 - 13 against
W Stephenson, C Lambert, R Pearson and A Bristow
Steve and his rink started steady and continued to play steady bowls, not picking up big scores but not conceding any either. A good solid performance from the rink to take an early lead and increase it at every check point, finishing with a 12 shot plus.

Rink 7
Paddy Mills, Keith Draper, P Morris and George Draper WON 40 - 10 against
F Collin, M McIntrye, P Tyler and G Pask
George's rink lost the first 2 ends and then stepped up the pace to run out good winners by plus 30 shots, just shading Trevor's rink for the best winning rink. A sign of the difference in both sides on this rink can be gauged by the fact that George and his rink scored 30 shots in only seven ends while Sleaford only won 8 ends scoring only 13 shots.

Rink 8
John Horton, David Hipworth, Keith Richardson and Mick Thompson WON 32 - 10 against
T Curran, D Boyne, D Fisher and D Chandley
Last but by no means least Mick's rink took an early lead after 5 ends 7 - 4 and galloped along at a fast pace to eventually win by 22 shots. Mick's rink put the game beyond the reach by scoring on 7 consecutive ends when leading by 11 - 9 to extend the lead to 29 - 9 before finishing the better by 22 shots and just losing on 6 ends.

A good solid all round performance by every player to round off another successful season for the over 60's side. Now our thoughts will turn to next season as we aim to win the over 60 county league for the twentieth year, some feat if we could do it.

Well done, and thank you, to every player who turned out for the team this year.

Congratulations to Terry Walker, who with some trepidation, took on the role of team Captain this season and lead us to victory.
