Over 60’s Lincoln A.
Game 10 away to Stamford
Another disappointing day at Stamford losing by 14 points to 4.
At 5 ends Lincoln led by 8 shots. They increased the lead to 14 shots at 10 ends. At 15 ends the lead had dropped to 10 shots. The last 6 ends went the way of Stamford scoring 38 shots to 19.
Is this the end of our long run of successive league wins. Will need two big results in the last games to have any hope of retaining our title.

Geoff Maslin, Gerry Tyson, Nick Martin & Mick Thompson Won 22 – 17
At 5 ends Micks Rink led by 6 shots and they increased this lead to 9 shots at 10 ends. Scoring five shots over the next 2 ends saw the lead increased to 14 shots. The next four ends went to Stamford. At 15 ends Lincoln led by 10. Stamford finished the stronger and reduced the final score to 22 – 17.
John Horton, Terry Walker, Patrick Mills & Keith Richardson Won 20 – 19
A close game all the way through. Stamford led by 4 shots at 5 ends. Keith’s rink pulled back and picking up a count of 4 on end 10 the lead was down to 1. At 15 ends Lincoln were in the lead for the first time by 3 shots. The final 5 ends were shared to give Lincoln another 2 points.
David Jones, Brian Jackman, David Brammer & George Draper Lost 18 – 19
A good start from Georges Rink saw them leading by 6 shots at 5 ends. Stamford fought back over the next 5 ends to leave Lincoln leading by just 1 Shot at 10 ends. 2 counts of 3 to Stamford saw them take the lead and at 15 ends they held a 2-shot advantage. A 3 count on end 16 saw the lead change again and the last end played started with the scores level. A strike from the Stamford Skip with his last bowl gave them a one-shot win.
Roy Horne, Jim Collett, Paul Morris & David Hipworth Lost 19 – 25
Stamford picked up a 3 and 4 count on the first 2 ends. David’s rink responded with a 4 on end 3 and another on end 5 to just be 1 down at 5 ends. The next 5 ends were close and at 10 ends Stamford still led by 1. Winning 4 of the next 5 ends saw their lead grow to 6 shots. David picked up 5 shots over the next 2 ends and the difference was back to 1. This proved to be the last shots scored by Lincoln losing by 6 shots.
Carl Stowe, Alistair Weir, Neil East, & John Withers Lost 17 – 25
At 5 ends John’s rink led by 2 shots and had increased to 6 shots at 10 ends. Despite dropping a 5 count on end 13 but Winning 4 of the next 5 ends saw the lead grow to 8 at 15 ends. The wheels came off at this point and Stamford won the final 6 ends to see them home to an 8 – shot win.
