ACTION PLAN TO ENSURE FINANCIAL STABILITY from Danny Brown
|
Dear Members,
We would all agree that the world is currently a vastly different place! Those of you who have returned to the club since lockdown have witnessed first-hand our efforts to adapt our game, whilst offering members the opportunity to socialise and enjoy their bowls in a safe environment. You may also have noted that we have been careful to operate efficiently, closing the club during our quieter periods. It should be emphasised that the club is in no immediate danger and we wish to remain open for our members but alongside increased costs, our income is greatly reduced due to National and County playing restrictions which we must adhere to for the time being.
In line with the rest of the leisure sector, we face a very tough year financially. As a live illustration, I have just taken stock of last weeks’ takings. Compared with the corresponding week in October last year, the Bar takings are 81% less and the Rinks till is 48% down. It is obvious to all therefore, that a prudent financial approach is required.
A detailed Financial Forecast (our likely receipts v costs) was presented to the Board of Directors last week and an Action Plan agreed with the purpose of safeguarding our current assets and ensuring that the club is self-sustainable in the short to medium term (taking us through until at least September 2021). The following points make up that Plan and their implementation will ultimately realise the majority of revenues required to safeguard the club’s future:
• Use of the Job Support Scheme for our staff • Continued use of the highly successful voluntary support roles (Covid Facilitators) • Further consolidation of fixtures and closure of club during inactive times • Restoration of Bar Lounge area with chairs at distance – No Standing & table service only • Completion of 2019/20 Competition Finals Programme (Rinks to be charged for) • Encouraged participation in Club Competitions for 20/21 – Forms available in lounge area • Rink fees to be increased to £2 per Hour for roll ups and competitions and match fees to be £4 - Commencing 1st NOVEMBER 2020. (This will be reviewed again in April 2021 and will be reduced if circumstances allow) • To have one single Membership classification for Playing Members above the age of 18 years (‘Full Membership’) • Full Membership subscriptions to rise from £40 to £50 from 31st December 2020 with the Social Membership remaining at £15. (This will also be reviewed in September 2021 and can be reduced if circumstances allow)
Additionally, the Directors favoured an idea put forward by a member during discussions on Social media. The Club is already indebted to everyone who has contributed voluntarily to our funds throughout the lockdown period. A magnificent sum in excess of £11,000 raised by members’ donations has already helped towards bridging our financial gap, and we are also grateful to everyone who continues to support the Club via the Lincoln City Lottery and to each and every member who has committed to league bowling throughout the current winter season.
Any member who wishes to make a donation of £10 or more to the club over and above their regular Annual Subscription, will receive one chance to become a Life Member of the Club. This ‘Prize’ is offered as a way of thanking those members for their extraordinary loyalty, care and generosity and will be drawn at random with the winner announced on Easter Sunday 2021. All members who have previously contributed amounts above £10 will receive automatic entry to the draw.
If you would like to contribute, please ask me for bank details so that you can transfer funds directly and I will log details.
In summary, the Club needs a prudent approach and an injection of funding whilst being unable to operate at full capacity and I thank you all in anticipation of your support and understanding of the issues we face.
Danny Brown General Manager
This Statement is issued by the General Manager on behalf of the Board Directors and is endorsed by their Chair Molly Rackham and our Club Management Committee Chairman Dennis Skayman
